Rebates
Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative has been offering rebates for Energy Star appliances, Dual Fuel Heat Pumps and Ground Source Heat Pumps since 2010. The rebate program entitled "Take Control and Save" is administered through Associated Electric Cooperative, our G&T whom we purchase our power from. The criteria has been updated for certain rebates effective January 1, 2013.The appliance rebate amounts are: ENERGY STAR Room Air Conditioners $50.00 (for new or replacement unit) limit one (1) per member address, and Electric Water Heaters $50.00 (for new or replacement of an existing electric water heater that is less than .90 efficiency no rebates will given for replacement of a heat pump or gas water heater).
The rebate amount for ENERGY STAR Plus 2 rated Dual-Fuel & Mini-Split Heat Pumps (16.5 SEER) are $150 per ton. This rebate applies on new home or building construction, Replacement of existing electric resistance heat, Heat pumps with electric resistant heat for back-up are not eligible for this rebate, and the dual-fuel heat pump must have an automatic thermostat control and have back-up unit of natural gas, propane, or fuel oil supplemental heating system.
The rebate amount for ENERGY STAR Plus 2 rated (19.1 EER) Ground Source Heat Pumps are $750.00 per ton limited to 10 tons per residential facilty. This rebate applies on new home or building construction, replacement of electric resistance heat, replacement of existing natural gas or propane heating system, replacement of an existing dual-fuel heat pump, electric or fossil fuel backup heat will be allowed for ground source heat pumps.
For the replacement of the indoor ground source heat pump unit only the rebate is $150.00 per ton limited to 10 tons per residential facility. is
To qualify for these rebates you must be a residential member of Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative.
Members are required to complete an application, include a copy of the original dated sales receipt, and a completed rebate form submitted within 90 days of purchase that includes the product name and model number.
Remember, your product must be ENERGY STAR rated and carry the ENERGY STAR label to qualify for your CHEC rebate. Rebates will be in the form of a credit to your electric account after verification. Rebates on heat pumps will be in check form. When you buy an ENERGY STAR rated product, you are buying one of the most energy efficient products on the market.
